where did 2008 go?

I’m trying to figure out if I’d actually done anything since January 1st. Oh how time flies and it’s just been one of those weeks where I I’m constantly busy but feel like I’ve accomplished nothing. Thankfully, that doesn’t quite apply to the past 3 months…

I took these photos way back in March of 2007, but they’ve only been adapted to the digital world within the past month as I was putting together my portfolio. So everything below is scanned b&w film, tweaked in photoshop to look like the traditional prints glimpsed in the last blog entry.

One of my goals this past fall was to create a personal website, a site I could use as an online portfolio, and well… I did. Though, it wasn’t quite the same type of site I envisioned back in September, I’m really happy with it:

One awesome thing about the site… it’s 100% free. Yes, that does mean there are limitations, but for right now I can happily accept the word “uber” in my url address and a slower site…

Well it didn’t take me long to break a promise did it!

There… just aren’t enough hours in the day, week, month…

But, in an effort to keep this thing alive, here is a random photo:

Taken this summer on the Amtrak train somewhere between Chicago and North Dakota (I honestly can’t remember and am too lazy to look into it). It’s one of my favorite photos from the trip. I love the mood and the lighting and the potential story it can tell.

boredom

This is what happens when I have to go pick up my sister at night after class and I’m early. I don’t like staying on campus that late at night. It’s way too quiet and empty. And there was absolutely nothing between campus and her school except an empty dunkin donuts. I really could have used a Starbucks or other cafe, but alas.

In the end I just parked and sat in the car for 20 minutes… I read, then picked up the camera…

dragon boats

So I started going through my digital files from over the summer, and came across something I’d completely forgotten about: The Ithaca Dragon Boat Festival

This was only the second year, and it had grown 10 fold. The boats are rented, and a bunch of regulation teams (and amateurs) from the the extended region compete. There’s a whole series of races and divisions throughout the day and everyone is just there to have a lot of fun…

So, first post… again. I originally started this blog the summer before last, but it didn’t last long. Lately the motivation has returned and I opted for the fresh start – clean history, new theme, new photos. Hopefully this time around I’ll keep it up. At least that’s the plan…
